DNP's proposal to include amendments to the Amnesty Law on the agenda rejected, Knežević: You will go to prison

Explaining the proposal, Knežević said that this was being done so that future prisoners, "perhaps from this parliament," would not find themselves in the situation he was in in 2018.

The proposal by Democratic People's Party (DNP) MP Milan Knežević to include amendments to the Amnesty Law on today's parliamentary agenda was rejected, after which he commented: "Okay, okay, you'll go to prison."

Explaining the proposal, Knežević said that this was being done so that future prisoners, "perhaps from this parliament," would not find themselves in the situation he was in in 2018.

"This amnesty does not include persons who committed serious murders, organized crime groups, and those who committed financial embezzlement. We would be doing the humane thing if we voted for this, since our prisons are overcrowded," said Knežević.

After his proposal was not supported, Knežević said, "Okay, okay, you'll go to prison."

The parliamentary session began today with a minute of silence.

The strongest opposition party, the Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS), proposed supplementing the agenda with a draft Law on State Awards.

"Our proposal is to add two new articles. According to the first - a state award cannot be awarded to an individual or group that treats Montenegro or its state, national and cultural identity unworthily. According to the second - a citizen of Montenegro who receives the Oktoih Award is entitled to a lifetime monthly allowance in the amount of half the average net salary," said DPS MP Zoja Bojanić Lalović.

However, this proposal did not receive support from MPs either.

The agenda includes proposals from the ruling Europe Now Movement (PES) on amendments to the Law on Road Traffic, Excise Duties, State Aid Control, and Railway Safety.

The agenda also includes the Government's proposals: amendments to the Law on the Prevention of Corruption, the Law on Construction Products, the Law on Environmental Impact Assessment, and the Law on the Bar-Boljare Highway.
