DPS Budva: The former government squandered 360 million euros and left behind accumulated problems

The former government squandered 360 million euros and left behind accumulated problems, Budva is on the path to financial recovery and stabilization, the Municipal Board of the Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS) Budva announced today.

"Today's reaction of the parties of the former Budva government, who are responsible for a decade of decline in our municipality, has completely exposed the hypocrisy of those who are the gravediggers of Budva's development and who are most responsible for the inherited problems that the local government faces today. Having squandered the municipal budget for almost a decade, we know that they do not understand the fact that Budva is, for the first time, buying and not selling, and investing in development and not in consumption and personal combinations of government actors in the way that those who spoke out today did," the statement emphasizes.

DPS Budva added that, for the sake of the Budva and Montenegrin public, and in accordance with the principle of transparency, they are clarifying what has been done only in the last few months.

"7,1 million euros were spent on the purchase of the Yugoslav River Shipping building, the most valuable site in the Municipality of Budva; 3,5 million euros for resolving the international arbitration with the WTE company, which reduced the risk of a potential loss of 50 million euros for the Municipality of Budva; 500.000 euros for the purchase of a plot for a kindergarten; 1,3 million euros for plots in Dubovica for the construction of a garage; 1,5 million euros for sports, as well as over 4 million euros based on court judgments that have already been collected from the Municipality's account. In addition, the Municipality allocated over 300.000 euros for the Health Center, provided two specialized vehicles for the Health Center and one for the Ambulance Service — although health and education are not the primary responsibilities of the local government, they are a responsibility towards citizens," the DPS Budva statement reads.

DPS Budva said that on the other hand, the question arises - what did the previous Budva government do, whose representatives spoke out today, and who spent over 360 million euros in 10 years?

"What are the projects that citizens remember and what has been done on the development plan of the Municipality of Budva? The answer is clear - nothing. Those 360 ​​million were eaten up by greedy local officials, the same ones who spoke out today and who cannot regret that today the money is being invested in the development of the Municipality and not in their private pockets and family combinations," said the DPS Budva.
