The Vice President of the Civic Movement (GP) URA, Blažo Rađenović, said that the party, at the request of the citizens of the Sveti Stefan Local Community (MZ), will initiate the formation of an annex committee in the Parliament of Montenegro, which would deal with its opening and construction in Miločer Park.
This was announced today by the URA Border Guard.
"We are seeking transparency because this is Montenegro's most valuable resource, this process has been accompanied by secrecy from the beginning. There is no citizen of Montenegro who does not want the Sveti Stefan hotel to operate, that brand has won the highest awards in tourism, but it is a protected cultural asset and the tenant violated the conditions of its protection," said Radjenovic, according to a statement from the GP URA.
Radjenovic added that the Government of Montenegro reached an agreement with the lessee, the Adriatic Properties company, at a time when all information indicated that the arbitration proceedings would be concluded in its favor, stating that he had this information from direct contact with lawyers and residents of Sveti Stefan who testified in the arbitration proceedings.
Last night, on the Reflektor show on Television Vijesti, Radjenovic said that the lease agreement was controversial from the beginning, especially the issuance of an urban planning permit for construction.
"The tenant could not obtain a building permit in Miločerki Park on any grounds, because it is a protected cultural property, a nature park," said Radjenović.
The press release from GP URA states that tennis courts, a concrete wall, and a fence were built in that area for construction in the park, which also includes apartments for sale.
"Imagine if artificial ramparts were built on the Acropolis and the Colosseum," said Radjenovic.
He, as stated in the GP URA statement, said that the former Board of Directors of HTP "Miločer" submitted documents to the Special State Prosecutor's Office, which indicate that there is no guarantee of 20 million euros for the construction of the new hotel "Kraljičina plaza".
The Government of Montenegro said that in 2007, the Government of Montenegro gave the green light to conclude a 30-year lease agreement for the Sveti Stefan Hotel, the Miločer Villa and the Kraljičina plaza Hotel, under which the lessee committed to keeping the hotels open for at least 11 months, but also to invest 50 million euros in the reconstruction of Sveti Stefan.
"The state gave its consent through a building permit and in violation of the Spatial Plan to build a new building in Miločerski Park, on the site of the former Kraljičina plaza hotel, as well as an annex with 66 apartments for the market, worth tens of millions of euros. Despite this, the tenant did not adhere to the contract," said the GP URA.
"Vijesti" announced today that the Administration for the Protection of Cultural Heritage plans to prepare a study by the end of this year that would protect Miločerski Park as a cultural asset, while further construction of the "Janu Kraljičina plaza" hotel would continue unhindered.
Prime Minister Milojko Spajić confirmed yesterday that by protecting this area, there would be no further work and no expansion of the capacity of existing villas and other facilities. He announced on Facebook that Miločer Park is becoming a protected cultural asset, and that the Government will put the urban planning project for the "Miločer" hotel resort out of effect - meaning that there will be no new construction in Miločer Park.
Deputy Prime Minister of Montenegro and Minister of Economic Development Nik Đeljošaj said last night in the Reflektor show on Vijesti Television that the arbitration proceedings before the court in London, which ended with a settlement between the tenant of Sveti Stefan, the company "Adriatic Properties", and the Government, cost Montenegro almost seven million euros, but that they prevented potential damage to the state that could have been several hundred million.
