The Preokret movement announced today that it will not respond to the invitation for a meeting of opposition entities in the Capital City Assembly, initiated by the Party of European Progress (SEP).
"In this convocation, we acted without coordination with any entity or group of entities, consistently adhering to the pre-election promises on the basis of which we gained the trust of citizens. We took a position on each issue when it came to the agenda - and we will not change that principle. When it comes to the initiative to remove the President of the Capital City Assembly, Jelena Borovinić Bojović, the bodies of Preokret will, in accordance with our previous practice and position, declare themselves on this at the moment when that item is formally included in the agenda of the Capital City Assembly. At that time, we will also clearly explain Preokret's position regarding the complete meaningless work of the local parliament," the Preokret statement states.
The political entity added that "the current government, with its obstruction, has rendered the work of the local assembly meaningless and essentially paralyzed the possibility of changing this situation until the 2027 elections."
"We warned that this would certainly happen by launching initiatives for which there is no necessary majority," said Preokret.
"Vijesti" announced earlier today that representatives of the Democratic People's Party (DNP), led by Milan Knežević, will not attend today's meeting of the Podgorica opposition, to which they were invited by the SEP, and at which they are supposed to discuss who could be a candidate for vice-president of the Capital City Assembly.
As reported by "Dan" yesterday, the SEP said that they have invited the heads of councilor clubs and presidents of municipal committees of the Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS), the European Union, the Civic Movement (GP) URA, Preokret, and the DNP, which recently left the city and state governments, to the meeting, which is scheduled for today at noon.
"Vijesti", citing multiple sources, recently announced that Borovinić Bojović could become the Deputy Prime Minister in charge of health.
