At a meeting of the Podgorica opposition, called by the Party of European Progress (SEP), it was agreed that the European Union (EU) would nominate a candidate for vice president of the Capital City Assembly, Televizija Vijesti has learned.

According to the same information, the EC will propose a candidate by the end of this week.

The SEP announced a new meeting, after the EC announced the name of the candidate.

A meeting of the Podgorica opposition was held today at the SEP premises in Podgorica, where they discussed who could be a candidate for vice president of the Capital City Assembly.

The Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS) and the European Alliance (ES) responded to the invitation to the meeting, while representatives of the Democratic People's Party (DNP), the Civic Movement URA, and the Preokret movement did not attend the meeting.

The meeting came in light of the announcement to submit an initiative to remove the President of the Capital City Assembly, Jelena Borovinić Bojović.

The initiative has not yet been submitted because it does not have the required number of signatures, but SEP expects to do so by the end of this week, when the remaining DPS councilors are also expected to provide their signatures.

The initiative to dismiss Borovinić Bojović has so far been signed by 17 opposition councilors, and in order for it to enter the parliamentary procedure, a minimum of 20 signatures are required. So far, 11 DPS councilors have signed the initiative.

"Vijesti" announced earlier today that representatives of the Democratic People's Party (DNP), led by Milan Knežević, will not attend the Podgorica opposition meeting to which they were invited by the SEP.

The Prekoret Movement announced today that it will not respond to the invitation for a meeting of opposition entities in the Capital City Assembly, which was initiated by the SEP, and they also said that they will declare Borovinić Bojović's dismissal when the initiative comes to the agenda.

"Vijesti", citing multiple sources, recently announced that Borovinić Bojović could become the Deputy Prime Minister in charge of health.
