Defense Minister Dragan Krapović said that he was sorry that the head of the Islamic Community in Montenegro, Rifat Fejzić, "did not react" to the omissions made by the government led by the Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS).
He thanked Fejzić for, "at least subsequently", giving up "the label that the Army of Montenegro could be a fascist organization."
"I am not suing, because that is not the job of the Minister of Defense. In earlier times, this was done in local committees, the chambers of Aco Mijajlović, Drago Spičanović, Petar and Zoran Lazović, and the cabinet of the then Minister of Defense. Today, there are competent services in the Ministry of Defense and the Army of Montenegro, as well as persons authorized by law, and they are doing their job. I am sorry that you did not react when the previous Chief of the General Staff, the one proposed by Milo Đukanović, did not react in any case of promoting large-scale state projects of other countries in the Army of Montenegro. I am sorry that you kept quiet about it then," said Krapović.
He added that he was also sorry that Fewjzić missed the opportunity "to condemn the former regime that employed, engaged and elected the highest police officials in the police force who insulted members of the Islamic faith in the most mundane way."
"I am also sorry that you did not condemn the representatives of the political entities of the former regime who today claim that these were the best police officers this country has produced. Such police officers are not the pride of Montenegro. They are its shame. And an even greater shame than them are their political lawyers and authors. I am also sorry that you did not condemn the actions of the then head of the ANB counterintelligence protection, Drago Spičanović, who announced the graffiti campaign in Rožaje with the messages "Run away, Turks" and "Move". You know, Mr. Fejzić, that all of this was done on the orders of the boss. The boss whom you never condemned for persecutions, for poems, for graffiti, or for deportations. Neither then nor now, neither Đukanović nor the ANB were fascistic creations for you."
Krapović said that the Army of Montenegro will be neither fascist, nor party, nor DPS, nor anyone else's army.
"It will be exclusively state-owned, professional and loyal to the Constitution of Montenegro. And anyone who tries to misuse it for political calculations will receive an institutional response befitting a serious state," he added.
