Former Speaker of the Parliament of Montenegro Ranko Krivokapić (SDP) said that, although he is an advisor to the Minister of Foreign Affairs Ervin Ibrahimović (BS), he is only an official, that he does not sit in the Government, nor was he appointed to that position by the Government.

At the conference "Montenegro Twenty Years Later - Between Promises and Expectations", he answered questions from the audience and said that "the difference is huge".

"I am under contract as long as I can help, and some from Croatia think I helped," Krivokapić said.

He pointed out that his advisors at one time included Andrej Nikolaidis and Sergej Sekulović, who later held a ministerial position after the change of government in 2020.

Ibrahimović appointed Krivokapić as Minister Advisor at the end of April last year, which is a high-ranking diplomatic title.

Krivokapić was the President of the Parliament of Montenegro from 2003 to 2016, and in 2022 he briefly served as Minister of Foreign Affairs in the Government of Dritan Abazović.

He was the president of the Social Democratic Party of Montenegro (SDP) from 2001-2019. He is the honorary president of the SDP.

Speaking at the panel about the current political situation, Krivokapić said that "this process of limited sovereignty, in terms of political independence, is actually healing."

He pointed out that Milo Đukanović and Momir Bulatović had more independence from Slobodan Milošević, "than they do now from (Aleksandar) Vučić."

"This form of government, which is clearly recognizable, has the Serbian Orthodox Church (SPC) as its informal leader. If Montenegro recovers, it will be easier for Serbia as well," Krivokapić said.
