The abominations, lies and dirty campaigns against the Democrats and their officials were not spontaneous political hysteria, but an organized, planned and directed effort by the party and the mafia, said the party's MP Momčilo Leković.
He made this statement in response to recently published correspondence between Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS) official Miloš Nikolić and the accused head of the so-called Grand Clan, Aleksandar Mijajlović.
"What we are reading these days is no longer a question of political style, but a question of a political-criminal pattern. For the first time, the public is seeing in black and white how a machinery functioned. A DPS official and an accused double head of a criminal organization and perpetrator of the most serious crimes are arranging political-media actions, creating a network of false orders, planning an 'army' on social networks, talking about using permitted and especially prohibited means against the government, the Democrats and its officials, coordinating media appearances and preparing questions for attacks on Danilo Šaranović. This is a classic abuse of politics with the help of the criminal and part of the media underground," he said.
As he adds, what is particularly difficult is "the fact that continuity is seen from the same allegations.
"It's not about one message, one outburst or one improvisation, but about a model of work. One person releases the story, another organizes a network, a third reinforces it through the media, and then the smear campaign begins. It is now clear that the abominations, lies and dirty campaigns against the Democrats and their officials were not spontaneous political hysteria, but an organized, planned and directed work in the organization of the party and the mafia," Leković said.
He adds that "the most dangerous part of everything, according to the indictment, is not only the connection between politics and crime, but also the attempt to influence the media, the executive branch and other important social factors."
"This means that the problem was not just one party, one portal or a few fake profiles. The problem was in the attempt to turn public space into a weapon, in order to break a political opponent with a campaign of filth and lies. This is a serious attack on democracy and on elementary trust in the political system. The public has the right to know who organized it, who implemented it, who financed it, who provided media services and who profited politically. Because this is no longer about "harsh messages" and a 'campaign on the networks'. This is an indictment that describes a combination of politics, crime, propaganda and manipulation. And that is already a question of responsibility before the law, not only before the public," believes Leković.
"Therefore, respected citizens of Montenegro, especially those of you who vote for them, beware of these people, because there is nothing they are not ready for," he concludes.
