The issue of forcibly deported and relocated Ukrainian children is one of the most difficult humanitarian issues caused by the war and represents a serious violation of international law, said Montenegrin Foreign Minister Ervin Ibrahimović, stating that Montenegro remains committed to protecting the rights of these children and their urgent return.
Ibrahimović participated in a meeting of the International Coalition for the Return of Ukrainian Children in Brussels today, where, as he said, he once again confirmed Montenegro's clear and principled support for Ukraine.
"The issue of forcibly deported and relocated Ukrainian children is one of the most difficult humanitarian issues caused by the war and represents a serious violation of international law," Ibrahimovic said in a statement to the media.
He assessed that it is the responsibility of all members of the Coalition to do everything possible to enable these children to return safely and unconditionally to their families and homes.
Ibrahimović emphasized that since the first day of Russian aggression, Montenegro has consistently supported the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, as well as efforts towards a just and lasting peace, in accordance with international law and the United Nations Charter.
"We will continue to provide political and humanitarian support to Ukraine, but also to support international efforts aimed at accountability for the crimes committed. As a member of this Coalition, Montenegro remains firmly committed to protecting the rights of Ukrainian children and their urgent return," Ibrahimović said.
