Montenegro remains a credible ally and a pillar of stability in the Western Balkans, it was announced at a meeting between Foreign Minister Ervin Ibrahimović and NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte.
As announced by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MVP), Ibrahimović emphasized that Rutte's visit represents a strong confirmation of Montenegro's credibility as a member, whose strategic foreign policy priority is full alliance within NATO.
Rute noted that Montenegro is a security-stable country, which, as he stated, is of key importance for the Alliance.
"In a time of intense geopolitical changes and global challenges, it is necessary to remain united and coordinated in order to adequately respond to all potential threats to collective security," said Rute.
Regarding the aggression against Ukraine, the meeting reiterated full support for diplomatic efforts aimed at achieving lasting peace.
"It was jointly assessed that Montenegro remains strongly committed to the goals of the Alliance, with the ambition to become the first member of the European Union by 2028, through reform progress and regional leadership," the statement said.
It is added that Ibrahimović and Rute also discussed preparations for the upcoming NATO summit in Sweden and assessed it as an important opportunity to further strengthen unity and transatlantic ties.
