Dukaj: Declaration on annulment of decision on recognition of Kosovo in Zeta is a step back in building a European future

"Without going into the constitutional and legal elements that do not give such a political act binding significance, this is still a phenomenon of attempts to take over someone else's powers and encroach on good neighborly relations, which are the primary goal of our country," wrote Minister of Public Administration Maraš Dukaj on the social network Iks.

Minister of Public Administration Maraš Dukaj announced today that the declaration annulling the decision to recognize Kosovo in the territory of Zeta is a step back in building a European future.

"The declaration of the Zeta municipality is a step back in building a European future. I am not surprised by the declaration of the Zeta municipal assembly on the annulment of the state decision on the recognition of the Republic of Kosovo. Without going into the constitutional and legal elements that do not give such a political act binding significance, this is still a phenomenon of attempts to take over someone else's powers and encroach on friendly relations, which are the primary goal of our country," Dukaj wrote on the social network X.

He added that "instead of the youngest municipality doing everything to create better living conditions and prosperity for its citizens, we are witnessing an attempt to dissolve institutions through deviations of parts of the system, all for the sake of particular political benefits and related geopolitical strategies."

"Definitely, and unfortunately - a step backwards in building a European future," he said.

Councilors in the Zeta Municipal Assembly (MA) voted earlier today on a declaration annulling the decision to recognize Kosovo in the territory of Zeta.

The declaration was voted for by councilors from the Democratic People's Party, New Serbian Democracy, Marko Vukčević from the Democrats, and independent councilors Nikola Rajović, Svetozar Ulićević, and Lidija Panić.

The members of the Democratic Party of Socialists did not attend the session, and before the vote, the members of the Democratic Party, Aleksandra Petričević and Luka Krstović, left the hall.

The proposer of the decision, Nebojša Nikčević, said that the initiative was signed by 18 councilors.

He pointed out that the Zeta Municipal Assembly notes that all previous governments have ignored the majority position of the citizens of Montenegro that Kosovo and Mechohija are an integral part of Serbia.
