The invitation of the President of Montenegro, Jakov Milatović, to NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte to visit Murina can be considered very questionable and inappropriate if the NATO Secretary General is not ready to accept responsibility for the war crime in Murina and apologize to the families of the victims, the wounded citizens, as well as all the residents of this region that the organization he headed turned into hell on April 30, 1999, Milun Zogović, Vice President of the Democratic People's Party (DNP), announced today.
"On that day, during the aggression against the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia, without a decision by the UN Security Council, this small town, in which there were no military targets, was bombed. The highest price was paid by innocent civilians, six people were killed, three of them children. Unfortunately, Murina was not rebuilt after the bombing, while the organization headed by Mark Rutte never acknowledged or condemned the war crime against the civilian population in Murina. Precisely for this reason, every invitation and meeting without a clear attitude towards this crime and suffering leaves a bitter impression and does not represent an act of responsibility and confronting the crime, but mere political marketing and populism that has no place in the suffering Murina," Zogović emphasized in a statement.
He added that Rute's arrival is an excellent opportunity to inform the citizens of Montenegro about whether the then leadership was informed that Murina would be bombed, and whether someone concealed that information.
Montenegrin President Jakov Milatović said earlier today at a lecture he gave at the Faculty of Political Sciences (FPN) in Podgorica with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte that there is a small village in northern Montenegro where, unfortunately, six people lost their lives during NATO bombing, including three children.
Six civilians in Murin, in northern Montenegro, were killed in 1999 during the NATO bombing of the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia (FRY).
