The current opposition in Podgorica will never work for the good of the government or the good of the citizens, Podgorica Mayor Saša Mujović announced today.
He told reporters after today's meeting between the President of the Capital City Assembly, Jelena Borovinić Bojović, and the heads of the councilor clubs of the parties that make up the majority in Podgorica, which he attended, that at that meeting they discussed the current situation regarding the opposition's initiative to dismiss Borovinić Bojović and the proposal that the councilor of the opposition European Alliance, Miloš Mašković, be the Vice President of the Capital City Assembly.
At that meeting, a message was sent that the initiative to elect Mašković as Vice President of the Capital City Assembly was not acceptable to the ruling majority in Podgorica.
"We have considered the situation. We will act as the law says - an urgent session is required. Within the legal deadline of 15 days, that session will certainly be scheduled," Mujović told reporters.
He said that it is interesting that the opposition is proposing Borovinić Bojović as Mašković's deputy, whom they want to remove.
"We will probably have some of our own candidates. We will probably have some of our own solutions. The most important thing is that the city functions smoothly and that is the main and most important message we have for the citizens," said Mujović.
When asked whether there was any talk of introducing compulsory administration in Podgorica, he said that the city is functioning regularly today.
"What we have to do is respect the law. So, we are going to an emergency session now. We will see what the status of Ms. Borovinić Bojović will be, whether that initiative will pass, what will happen in the future," said Mujović.
He emphasized that they were not talking about compulsory administration:
"What citizens are asking of us is for the city to function normally. I think we are ensuring that, and from that aspect, it seems to me, no one has any complaints. If I may be subjective, I don't remember so many important things being done in the Capital as they are being done today," said Mujović.
Responding to the question of whether he believes that the European Union's proposal to make Mašković the deputy speaker of the Parliament the first item on the agenda is political manipulation, Mujović said that "this opposition will never work for the good of either the government or the citizens."
"They have their own agenda, their own ideas, their own motives. I never get into them, nor do I like to comment on them. Let them implement their agenda, and we will know how to respond," said Mujović.
The Party of European Progress (SEP) submitted an initiative today for the head of the European Union councilors' club in the Capital City Assembly, Miloš Mašković, to be the vice president of the city parliament, Televizija Vijesti has learned unofficially.
According to the same information, SEP also submitted an initiative for the removal of the President of the Capital City Assembly, Jelena Borovinić Bojović.
The City Assembly has not had a vice president since October 7th last year, when Movement for Podgorica councilor Dragutin Vučinić resigned from that position.
"Vijesti", citing multiple sources, recently announced that Borovinić Bojović could become the Deputy Prime Minister in charge of health.
