The parliamentary club of the Europe Now Movement (PES) has submitted an initiative to grant a one-time grant of 100 euros to all high school graduates in Nikšić, reports the RTCG portal.

The compensation for high school graduates will be implemented through a decision of the Mayor, and as explained by the President of the Municipal Assembly (MA) of Nikšić, Milica Lalatović Žižić, around 85.000 euros have been allocated for this purpose.

"As an educator, I had the opportunity to recognize through my daily work with students and parents how much graduating from high school, in addition to being a beautiful and important life moment, is also a significant financial challenge for many families. The costs of proms, suits, dresses, photography, and all the accompanying obligations often represent an additional burden on the household budget. That is precisely why I proposed to the Club of Councilors that we launch this initiative with the desire to at least symbolically ease some of these costs and show our graduates and their parents that the local community is thinking of them," said Lalatović Žižić.

She said that supporting high school graduates is not just financial assistance, but also a message to young people that their city recognizes their efforts and successes and wants to be with them as they complete an important chapter in their lives.

"According to estimates, around 850 high school graduates will receive this support, and around 85.000 euros have been allocated for this purpose. We believe that a stable and development budget of our municipality can recognize such an initiative and support it as an investment in the most valuable thing our city has, which is our young people," Lalatović Žižić pointed out.

As reported by the RTCG portal, she said that high school graduates can expect to receive their funds by the end of May, adding that it is an investment in young people and the future of Nikšić.

The President of the PES Councilors' Club, Radovan Bijelić, said that with this initiative they want to show that the local budget should be directed towards citizens and concrete benefits for young people.

"It shows that the Europe Movement is now and remains a different political party, that is, from all the others in our country. We were criticized when we increased salaries and pensions. There will probably be criticism now, but that is what separates us from others and shows that we are truly worth more and that we think about our citizens. So, with this, we prove that the municipal budget is the budget of all our citizens, in this case, high school graduates, so we will be persistent in the idea that all our citizens truly feel the benefits of our political action," said Bijelić.
