Milatović - Husar: Parliamentary cooperation an important pillar of Montenegro's European path

Parliamentary cooperation between Montenegro and Estonia is an important segment of overall bilateral relations and an additional incentive for Montenegro's European integration, it was stated in a conversation between Montenegrin President Jakov Milatović and the Speaker of the Estonian Parliament Lauri Husar.

Milatović met with Husar today as part of an official visit to Estonia.

As announced by Milatović's office, the interlocutors assessed that more intensive cooperation between parliaments contributes to the exchange of experiences in implementing reforms, strengthening democratic institutions, and harmonizing legislation with the acquis communautaire of the European Union (EU).

"In this context, the need for stronger communication between parliamentary committees, friendship groups and expert services of the two parliaments was emphasized," the statement said.

It is stated that during the talks, special emphasis was placed on the transfer of Estonian experiences in the process of European integration, digitalization of institutions and improvement of public administration efficiency, and it was assessed that they could be valuable support for Montenegro in continuing its reform path.

Husar, as announced, praised the progress in reforms that Montenegro has achieved, emphasizing the importance of continuous political dialogue and strong institutional cooperation with EU member states.

He emphasized that the Estonian Parliament will provide full support for the successful completion of the accession process, including the ratification of Montenegro's accession treaty with the EU.
