Bogdanović on the verdict against Peruničić: This is a verdict on the system of Milo and Aco Đukanović and a few of their political nonsense

"This is proof of what Montenegro has felt for years, that behind the atmosphere of smearing, division, subterfuge and dirty campaigns were not lonely individuals, but a political-security octopus that used state institutions as a weapon against its own people," said Boris Bogdanović, president of the Democratic Montenegro Parliamentary Group.

Following the verdict against former National Security Agency (ANB) director Dejan Peruničić, there is no longer any room for the Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS) to act, for political inaction and for evading responsibility, Boris Bogdanović, president of the Democratic Montenegro Parliamentary Group, announced today.

Peruničić was sentenced today by the Higher Court in Podgorica to five years in prison for ordering the illegal wiretapping and monitoring of former opposition leaders, journalists, and church dignitaries from the end of 2019 until the elections on August 30, 2020.

Bogdanović also mentioned in the statement the former President and Prime Minister of Montenegro and former leader of the Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS), Milo Đukanović, and his brother Aco Đukanović.

"This is a verdict on the entire system of Milo and Aco Đukanović and a few of their political scoundrels who have lived for years by monitoring, stalking, eavesdropping, framing and destroying people. A system in which political opponents were treated as targets, not as citizens of Montenegro," Bogdanović pointed out.

He added that this is "proof of what Montenegro has felt for years, that behind the atmosphere of smearing, division, subterfuge and dirty campaigns were not lone individuals, but a political-security octopus that used state institutions as a weapon against its own people."

"That is why this verdict confirms what citizens have long suspected, both when it comes to the 'Udar.me' affair, and when it comes to the persecution of political dissenters, and when it comes to the monstrous campaigns that are being conducted today through fake avatars and DPS poison shops. Because the same script has been going on for years, first they declare a person a target, then they monitor him, wiretap him, and when they find nothing on him, then they invent nasty things about him, draw pictures of his family, attack his children, and then through their media and parapolitical outlets they try to morally liquidate him," Bogdanović said.

He said that "when you get to the point where you declare children 'bought', paint families as targets, and treat dissenters as enemies of the state, then every last millimeter of humanity falls away from the people who devise abominations in that Party."

"Then we are no longer talking about a political struggle, but about the moral collapse of people who are ready to trample on everything, the truth, the law, the family, dignity and the state, for the sake of power. That is why the citizens of Montenegro must understand very well that these are not ordinary political conflicts. This is a clash between the state and petty, worldly criminals ready for all sorts of abominations. And that is precisely why it is important that such verdicts are not the end of an affair, but the beginning of a complete disclosure of everything that was done to the citizens of Montenegro," Bogdanović said. He said that people who forget such things risk having them happen again.

"And the people who keep quiet about them agree to have their children monitored, eavesdropped on, targeted and destroyed again tomorrow for the sake of their hectares, villas, Maybachs, multi-million dollar bills and their lives bought with the people's misfortune," said Bogdanović.
