The statehood of Montenegro is not just a political fact, but a value woven into the identity of every one of its citizens, announced today the Ambassador of Montenegro to Slovenia, Dragan Tufegdžić.

After the ceremonial flag salute, performed by the guards of the Army of Montenegro and the Army of Slovenia, and the singing of the national anthems, the Ambassador of Montenegro to Slovenia, Dragan Tufegdžić, addressed the audience.

"Montenegro's statehood is not just a political fact, but a value woven into the identity of every citizen, and this anniversary carries special symbolism as it unites the past, present and future in one strong and lasting idea of statehood," Tufegdžić emphasized.

He thanked Slovenia for its consistent support, not only at the bilateral level, but also within European institutions.

The Honorary Consul of Montenegro in Slovenia, Vojislav Kovač, stated that he was particularly pleased that we were celebrating the 20th anniversary of the restoration of Montenegrin independence together with our diaspora and friends in Slovenia, a country in which, as he said, he had lived for more than 35 years and where people understood well what freedom, statehood and pride in their country meant. He said that the patronage and conceptual initiative of the ceremony was his personal contribution to the celebration of the great jubilee, but also a gift to the friends of our country in Slovenia.

"I believe that soon, together in Ljubljana, connected by friendship and shared European values, we will mark the achievement of our main goal - Montenegro's membership in the European Union," he said.

Kovač, the host of the ceremony and patron of the jubilee, will soon, as announced by Ambassador Tufegdžić at the celebration in Ljubljana, receive a high state decoration for his special contribution.

The artistic program is organized as a kind of musical and theatrical journey through the history of Montenegro - from the time of Doclea to the modern era. Through music, words and stage expression, the tradition, culture and identity of Montenegro are presented.

A special dimension to the program was given by the performance of Montenegrin songs arranged by prominent Slovenian musicians.

Among the guests at the ceremony in Ljubljana were former Slovenian President Milan Kučan, UEFA President Aleksander Čeferin, Ljubljana Mayor Zoran Janković, as well as regional music stars Magnifiko and Senida, and numerous other guests.
