Continuing his official visit to the Republic of North Macedonia, the Vice President of the Parliament of Montenegro Nikola Camaj met with the Vice President of the Parliament of North Macedonia, Jovan Mitreski. During the meeting, the good and friendly relations between the two parliaments were confirmed, as well as the readiness for their further improvement, according to a statement from the Parliament of Montenegro.
Mitreski congratulated Montenegro on its progress on the path to the European Union and on that occasion requested Montenegro's support for the European integration process of North Macedonia. He also highlighted the important role of the opposition in a democratic society, emphasizing that all political actors should act together in the interest of citizens and the development of society, regardless of ethnic, religious or political affiliation, which Vice President Camaj supported and confirmed, emphasizing that Montenegro is an example of successful coexistence of different peoples and communities, based on mutual respect and multiethnic harmony.
Camaj emphasized the importance of parliamentary cooperation, especially through the work of friendship groups, emphasizing that Montenegro and North Macedonia have significant resources and potential that, through institutional cooperation and exchange of experiences, can contribute to further improving the quality of life of citizens and accelerating the countries' European path.
The Vice President of the Parliament of Montenegro also met with the MP of the Democratic Union for Integration, Ali Ahmeti.
The assembly announced that the meeting discussed current political developments in the region, the European integration process, the importance of preserving interethnic stability and improving inter-institutional cooperation between North Macedonia and Montenegro.
The interlocutors emphasized the importance of continuous political dialogue, respect for the rights of all communities and consistent continuation of the European path as key prerequisites for preserving stability and democratic development of the Western Balkans. In this context, it was also emphasized that Albanians represent an important factor of stability and a constructive bridge of cooperation in the region, through active participation in political and social processes and contribution to strengthening mutual trust and good neighborly relations.
Vice President Camaj emphasized that both Montenegro and North Macedonia can further strengthen their stable and European future through mutual respect, inclusiveness, and quality relations with the Albanian community, which represents an important social and political factor in both countries.
The interlocutors expressed their willingness to further strengthen cooperation and political dialogue between the institutions and political actors of the two countries, with the aim of improving overall bilateral relations and the European perspective of the region.
This visit by the Deputy Speaker of the Parliament of Montenegro, Nikola Camaj, represents a continuation of the ongoing dialogue and strengthening of parliamentary and overall bilateral relations between Montenegro and North Macedonia, as well as a confirmation of the mutual commitment to further improving cooperation and the European perspective of both countries, the Parliament of Montenegro said.
