Montenegro's European future needs to overcome party divisions, said European Commissioner Marta Kos, adding that she hopes to see broad support from political actors through inclusive dialogue.
President of the Parliament of Montenegro Andrija Mandić met with Kos on Wednesday.
As announced by the Parliament, after the meeting, Mandić and Kos, together with the European Parliament Rapporteur for Montenegro Marjan Šarec and the Head of the European Union (EU) Delegation to Montenegro, Ambassador Johann Sattler, visited the exhibition "Europe, We Are Back" at the Montenegrin Academy of Sciences and Arts.
Kos said that the efforts made by the parliament so far are visible, as Montenegro enters the final phase of its path towards the EU.
According to her, this was also reflected in her leadership's commitment to prioritizing EU-related legislation.
"We are now at a crucial crossroads regarding the remaining reforms and legislation in the area of the rule of law and fundamental rights. Montenegro's European future needs to overcome party divisions and we hope to see broad support from political actors through inclusive dialogue," said Kos.
Mandić emphasized that the policy he advocates, both then and now, is unifying, and that he proudly points out that today he is the oldest leader of the bloc for the community of developed European countries and the EU.
"Our job is to make Montenegro a community of rich and happy people," said Mandić.
