Milatović's Cabinet: Congratulations confirm strong support for Montenegro's European future

European and regional leaders sent congratulations to Montenegrin President Jakov Milatović and the citizens on the occasion of marking two decades since the restoration of Montenegro's independence, which, as announced, confirm strong support for the country's European future.

As announced by Milatović's office, the messages of support are coming ahead of the European Union (EU) - Western Balkans Summit, which will be held in Tivat on Friday, and hosted by Milatović.

It is stated that European and regional leaders emphasized in their messages that they look forward to coming to Montenegro and participating in the Summit, which will bring together the highest officials of EU states and institutions.

"Symbolically, precisely in the year of the great state jubilee, Montenegro is gathering Europe in Tivat and confirming that its place is at the very heart of the European family," said Milatović's cabinet.

As they said, the video messages highlighted Montenegro's stability, its civic and multiethnic character, commitment to European values, and progress on the European path, emphasizing that Montenegro's future lies in the EU, and that the country remains an important and reliable partner in the region.

"Twenty years after the restoration of independence, Montenegro remains firmly on the European path - as a country of peace, good neighborliness and shared European values," the statement said.

It is stated that the upcoming Summit in Tivat further confirms Montenegro's international reputation and its role as a country leading the European perspective of the region.

Video greetings on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the restoration of Montenegro's independence were sent to Milatović and the citizens by the President of the European Council Antonio Košta, the Presidents of Cyprus and Lithuania, Nikos Hristodulidis and Gitanas Nauseda, as well as the Chairman of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Denis Bećirović.

Congratulations were also sent by the Prime Ministers of Spain Pedro Sanchez, Estonia Kristen Michal, Ireland Michael Martin, Luxembourg Luc Frieden, Portugal Luis Montenegro, Czech Republic Andrej Babiš, and Albania Edi Rama.
