Members of Parliament from the Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS) have addressed the Head of the European Union (EU) Delegation, Johan Satler, regarding two cases of femicide in the last 48 hours.

This was stated by DPS MP Nela Savković Vukčević at a press conference in parliament.

She stated that a year has passed since the proposal for amendments to the Criminal Code defining femicide as a separate criminal offense was sent to the European Commission, but that Brussels has not yet responded.

"We are here to express our concern and to say that domestic violence and assault on women are serious crimes," said Savković Vukčević.

She added that the murders that occurred in the last two days showed that the current legal mechanisms are inadequate.

"Therefore, we call on the European Commission to give its opinion as soon as possible on the amendments to the Criminal Code in the part that would define femicide," she said.
