French President Emmanuel Macron will visit Cetinje tomorrow, where his Montenegrin counterpart Jakov Milatović will present him with the Order of Montenegro, the highest state decoration.
As announced by Milatović's office, the decision to award the Order is an expression of the highest state respect for Macron for his personal contribution to strengthening relations between the two countries, support for Montenegro's European perspective, and commitment to the values of freedom, democracy, and European unity.
Milatović's office said that this was the first official visit by a French president to Montenegro, which, it is said, gives the event special historical and political significance.
"As part of the visit program, a formal welcoming ceremony will be held in front of the Residence of the President of Montenegro in Cetinje, while statements to the media are planned after the meeting of the two presidents," the statement said.
It is stated that, after the award ceremony, a friendship tree will be planted in the courtyard of the Residence of the President of Montenegro.
"Macron's visit represents a confirmation of the friendship between Montenegro and France, support for the country's European path and Montenegro's role as the most advanced candidate country for membership in the European Union," the statement added.
