The EU-Western Balkans Summit, which begins tonight in Tivat, will bring together EU heads of state and government. Although the summit has not yet begun, disinformation about it has already begun.
Thus, the Borba portal stated in an article (archived) on the front page that Croatian President Zoran Milanović arrived in Tivat by warship, writes the Raskrinkavanje.me portal.
Still, it's about recycling old news.
Milanović will not be participating in the summit in Tivat, but as announced by the Croatian Government, the country will be represented by Prime Minister Andrej Plenković.
Plenković will arrive in Montenegro later in the afternoon, or early evening, directly by plane from Zagreb to Tivat, Vijesti has learned.
The arrival of all Summit participants is expected during the day, so that the presidents and prime ministers can attend the working dinner on the occasion of the upcoming summit.
The Borba portal used a photo from five years ago, when Milanović was on an official visit to Montenegro, to spread this news. The photos and footage show former Foreign Minister Srđan Darmanović welcoming Milanović at the time.
The same incorrect news was reported by the IN4S portal, as well as the pogled.me portal.
Considering that both portals used old photos to promote current news, we assess their posts as disinformation.
A "Disinformation" rating is given to a media report that contains a "mix" of facts and inaccurate or half-truthful content. In such cases, the media may not necessarily be aware of the inaccurate information that is published alongside the true information. Reports that have false attributions or headlines that do not reflect the text in terms of accuracy of the information will also be treated with this rating.
The arrival of the Croatian Government plane with Prime Minister Andrej Plenković at Tivat Airport is expected at around 4:30 p.m.
