Macron arrives in Montenegro; Milatović's cabinet: Montenegro has European friends, has the support of its most important partners

French President Emmanuel Macron has arrived in Montenegro, the Airport of Montenegro (ACG) announced.

"Which is the first official visit of the highest French statesman to our country," reads an ACG statement posted on social media.

He was welcomed by the President of Montenegro, Jakov Milatović.

Macron will be in Cetinje today, where Milatović will present him with the Order of Montenegro, the highest state decoration.

Milatović's Public Relations Office said that Macron's arrival represents one of the most important diplomatic events for Montenegro and a strong confirmation of deep friendship, trust and partnership with France, a country that is one of the foundations of a united Europe.

"This visit carries a clear message: Montenegro has European friends, has the support of its most important partners and has its place at the European table. It confirms that our European path is recognized as a common interest of Montenegro, the region and Europe," the statement said.
