Deputy Prime Minister of Montenegro for Foreign and European Affairs Filip Ivanović expressed his condolences on the death of a member of the Serbian Army who was killed while serving in the United Nations peacekeeping mission UNIFIL in Lebanon.
This was announced tonight from his office.
Ivanovic stated that he received the news of the death of the Serbian soldier with sadness, and that on behalf of Montenegro and on his own behalf, he sent his most sincere condolences to the family of the fallen soldier, his comrades, and Serbia.
The statement states that Ivanovic wished the injured members of the mission a speedy and successful recovery.
"Attacks on United Nations peacekeepers represent a serious violation of the principles on which international peace and security are based, and such actions must be unequivocally condemned. Montenegro remains strongly committed to supporting the efforts of the United Nations in preserving peace and international security," said Ivanovic.
