Bojović: Kljajević's house searched because he signed the initiative to annul the shameful decision to recognize the so-called Kosovo

We would like to inform the public that yesterday afternoon, the Police Directorate in Pljevlja, with the verbal consent of Prosecutor Sanja Golubović, searched the house of Democratic People's Party (DNP) councilor Dragiša Kljajević after they allegedly learned that he was in illegal possession of weapons, Vladislav Bojović, DNP MP in the Parliament of Montenegro and member of the Committee on Security and Defense of the Parliament of Montenegro, announced today.

"The search was first carried out in his family home in the village of Đurđevića Tara, as well as in all auxiliary facilities, and then in their family home in the city, and of course no weapons were found on that occasion. We call on the Director of the Police Administration, Lazar Šćepanović, to come forward, as of today, and provide information about this obvious abuse of power by the police. Bearing in mind that Dragiša Kljajević, as a councilor of the Democratic People's Party in Pljevlja, was the first to sign the initiative for the annulment of the shameful decision to recognize the so-called Kosovo in the Pljevlja parliament a few days ago, we are convinced that this abuse of authority and abuse of power by the police is connected to our initiative, that is, that it is a failed attempt to intimidate and compromise our councilor and our initiative," Bojović emphasized in a statement.

He added that "everyone knows very well that the councilor of the Democratic People's Party in Pljevlja, Dragiša Kljajević, is an honorable and upright man, a well-known patriot and a man of Serbian orientation, whose vehicle was searched during the rule of the former regime, in September 2016, before a promotional rally of the Democratic Front in Nikšić, when nothing was found either."

"It is also well known that in the Police Administration and the judiciary there are remnants of old structures that are connected to who knows who, although we can only guess. Therefore, we ask Lazar Šćepanović whether anyone will be held accountable for this abuse of power by the police and attempts to exert pressure on legitimately elected representatives of citizens, while we hear stories every day about the alleged reform of the security services on Montenegro's European path. In this regard, we note that the police had time to deal with this on the day when the European Union-Western Balkans summit was held in Tivat," said Bojović.

He said that they are demanding "a reaction from the director of the Police Directorate and all competent state bodies without delay, as we have reason to suspect that this is an action carried out in conjunction with old forces and individuals from the current government, planned and agreed upon in a situation when more and more councilors in Pljevlja are signing the initiative of the Democratic People's Party to annul the recognition of the so-called Kosovo."
