DNP proposes Ivana Mašković for President of the Capital City Assembly

The Democratic People's Party (DNP) councilors' club has nominated the party's councilor Ivana Mašković for the position of President of the Capital City Assembly, stating that if this is not acceptable to the majority and blackmail and conditioning continue, they will support the election of Preokret councilor Srđan Perić to that position.

The DNP Councilors' Club thanked the President of the Municipal Committee of the New Serbian Democracy (NSD) Radoš Zečević for today's reaction, adding that they did not actually want to accept the DNP candidate for President of the Assembly, and that this was just buying time with the intention of introducing compulsory administration in Podgorica.

Zečević told "Dan" today that if the DNP does not show up for the meeting on Monday to finalize the story regarding the candidate for the President of the Capital City Assembly, the NSD will propose its candidate for this position on Tuesday.

"Our position has been clear from the beginning, we will not allow the introduction of compulsory administration in the capital, just as we will not allow conditioning and blackmail of former coalition partners," the DNP Councilors' Club said in a statement.

It is emphasized that the DNP has never prioritized functions and privileges and that they have shown this countless times so far.

It is added that the exclusive goal of the DNP was and remains to prevent the introduction of compulsory administration in Podgorica, "so that the usurping minority would not hand the city over to Mayor Saša Mujović, who would continue his autocracy without any control or legitimacy."

"Guided exclusively by the interests of the citizens of Podgorica and their majority desire to avoid forced administration in our city, the DNP councilors' club proposes our councilor Ivana Mašković for the President of the Assembly," the statement said.

The DNP Councilors' Club assessed that Mašković's human and professional qualities fully match the position of President of the Assembly.

"If this proposal is not acceptable to the former majority, and if additional blackmail and conditioning towards the DNP continues, we inform the public that in that case we will support Srđan Perić for the Speaker of the Parliament, so that he can perform the function in a technical mandate, and thus prevent the introduction of compulsory administration," the DNP Councillors' Club stated.

They stated that, if there is ever a government reshuffle and Zečević is proposed as a minister, the DNP parliamentary group will not vote against him, nor will they condition him in any way "just as he has been unnecessarily blackmailing and conditioning us for weeks, without having held a single conversation with our representatives."
