GP URA delegation lays wreath in Doli: Forgetfulness, hatred and divisions must never have a place in Montenegro

It is our duty to stand before the victims of Dol with reverence and silence, but also with a clear message that oblivion, hatred and divisions must never have a place in Montenegro, the Civic Movement URA announced today.

The party announced that their delegation, consisting of MP Zoran Mikić, political director Dušan Golović and the president of the Municipal Board (OO) of URA Plužine Branko Pejović, laid a wreath in Doli u Piva, "paying tribute to the innocent victims of this terrible crime."

"On June 7, 1943, 522 people were killed in Doli by the SS Division 'Princ Eugen', with the support of the 'Handžar' Division. Doli is a place of deep pain and eternal memory, but also a permanent reminder to all generations that we must permanently inherit, preserve and pass on peace, freedom and anti-fascist values ​​as one of the most important foundations of our future. Therefore, it is our duty to stand before the victims of Doli with reverence and silence, but also with a clear message that oblivion, hatred and divisions must never have a place in Montenegro," the GP URA statement reads.

Mikić said that only a society that remembers and respects its victims can build a just and better future.

"It is our obligation to preserve the memory of innocent victims, to cultivate a culture of remembrance and to resolutely oppose every form of hatred, division and relativization of crimes. Only a society that remembers and respects its victims can build a just and better future. It is our wish that these innocent victims are never forgotten and that such atrocities and crimes against innocent people are never repeated again, to anyone," said Mikić.

The URA Police Headquarters said that they will continue to uphold the values ​​of anti-fascism, peace, solidarity and respect for all victims, convinced that these values ​​are the foundation of a civil, European, anti-fascist and dignified Montenegro.
