Brnabić: The cover of "Vijesti" showed how much Vučić broke their concept in Tivat and what frustrations it caused

President Aleksandar Vučić fared so "badly" at the EU-Western Balkans Summit in Tivat that "Vijesti" had to quickly find anyone from the EU to say that no one in the EU trusts Vučić anymore, said the Speaker of the National Assembly of Serbia Ana Brnabić, commenting on an interview with MEP Katlin Van Brempt that "Vijesti" published today.

"For a long time, there was a view that Vučić was not the democrat the European Union (EU) would like, but that he was still a guarantor of stability. That is now over, because even the President of the European Commission (EC) Ursula von der Leyen no longer trusts him," Van Brempt said, among other things, in the aforementioned interview.

Brnabić responded that the EU does not trust Vučić so much that the Serbian president had meetings in Tivat with the President of the European Council, the President of the European Commission, the President of France, and the Chancellor of Germany.

"They don't trust him so much that President Macron told the media that Vučić is doing a good job for Serbia. In damage control, 'Vijesti' found, look now - the vice-president of the S&D (Socialist and Democratic) parliamentary group in the European Parliament! Forget what Košta says. Leave aside what Ursula von der Leyen says. Who was Macron? Why is Merz important? Let's hear the opinion of the vice-president of the Socialist parliamentary group," the President of the National Assembly of Serbia stated in a post on Iksu.

She assessed that nothing more than the front page of "Vijesti", which featured an interview with Mr. Brempt, speaks volumes about how much Aleksandar Vučić shattered their concept in Tivat and what frustrations it caused.

"And it also shows a lot that they care more about not trusting Vučić than trusting Jakov. Because Vučić is always the news," she concluded.
