Pejović and Smailović monitored the elections in Armenia

Independent MP Jevrosima Pejović and Bosniak Party MP Amer Smailović were part of the observation mission of the Parliamentary Assembly (PA) of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) on the occasion of the parliamentary elections held in Armenia on June 7, 2026, the Parliament announced.

Pejović is the Vice-Chair of the OSCE PA Committee on Political Affairs and Security and the Head of the Election Observation Delegation.

"In a preliminary statement by international observers, it was noted that the parliamentary elections held on June 7, 2026, offered voters 'a real choice between different political options in a well-organized process, although direct pressure from abroad was recorded during the campaign, in the form of increased trade restrictions and security threats, with the aim of inappropriately influencing voters to support the opposition,'" the statement said.

“The importance of these elections, coupled with the polarizing rhetoric during the campaign, created a tense atmosphere for both voters and election officials,” said Jevrosima Pejović, Head of the OSCE PA Delegation to Observe the Parliamentary Elections in Armenia.

"Electoral institutions operated under increased scrutiny, while voters were exposed to constant political pressure and intense public debate. Tensions caused by internal and external factors further burdened the electoral process and affected the perception of the quality of the electoral administration, which indicates the need to foster a constructive political climate and strengthen public trust in electoral bodies," concluded Pejović during her address to the press conference.

As they point out, the elections in Armenia were monitored by more than 100 parliamentarians from over 30 countries in the OSCE region, contributing to a comprehensive assessment of the electoral process.
