Abazović - Bajer: Revival of EU enlargement policy crucial for the security of the Western Balkans

The revival of the European Union's enlargement policy is crucial for the security of the Western Balkans, assessed during the conversation by ERO President Dritan Abazović and German Bundestag member Peter Bajer.

"We are grateful to Germany, the members of the Bundestag, as well as the Government of Chancellor Merck for their continued support for Montenegro. I believe that our country's membership will have a healing effect on the entire region," said Abazović at a gala dinner hosted by the hosts in Berlin.

Abazović, ERO added, emphasized that Montenegro wants to play the role of a motivator and show that membership in the European Union is an achievable goal, and that after our country, the entire Western Balkans will be in the European Union, which would complete the European family of nations.

"During the working dinner, there was also discussion of enlargement models, as well as the new non-paper jointly prepared by Germany and France," the statement said.

The hosts, as stated, thanked Abazović for everything that was done during the previous government's mandate, with special emphasis on the results in the fight against organized crime and corruption, and emphasized the important role of the Civic Movement URA in future processes leading to the finalization of the European agenda.
