Božović: It is unacceptable that the sessions of the Inquiry Committee, formed to uncover crimes, are postponed indefinitely

Once again, we appeal on an issue that transcends daily politics. The Inquiry Committee for Investigating Attacks on Journalists and Intellectuals was not formed for the sake of narrow party interests, but to expose various crimes, such as the murder of the editor-in-chief of “Dan” Duško Jovanović. It is unacceptable that the committee’s sessions are postponed indefinitely or not scheduled.

This was stated by Socialist People's Party (SNP) MP Bogdan Božović at a press conference in parliament.

He said that they are therefore once again appealing to representatives of both the government and the opposition for the inquiry committee to continue its work.

"The truth cannot wait, the inquiry committee needs to justify the reason why it was established. Citizens must come first. Only through open work can we find answers to questions that have been in the public's focus for a long time," said Božović.

Leković: The public has the right to know the truth

Democratic MP Momčilo Leković said that the public has the right to know the truth, and that items that were proposed earlier are pending - such as the hearing of former secret service directors regarding the disappearance of documentation on the murder of Duško Jovanović from the National Security Agency.

"Who is it today that the inquiry committee is not working? The fact is that the committee's work has stopped at a time when people who have been owed answers for decades are due to be questioned. I would like to emphasize that Milo Đukanović did not respond to the invitation to be questioned, and the public has the right to draw conclusions about that. Đukanović has been guided for years by the principle that dead mouths do not speak...", stated Leković.

The Democratic MP said that Milan Paunović stated that the so-called "black threes" were led by the commander of the Special Police Unit, and that Paunović had repeatedly informed the competent authorities about this.

"He (Paunović) provided significant information about the murder of Goran Žugić, and that they sought motives in the damaged relations between Vukašin Maraš and Žugić," said Leković.

Leković said that Đukanović knew that he would not be able to answer the questions that would be asked of him at the session of the inquiry committee, and that is why he did not appear.

"The board of inquiry is not here to pass judgment, but to show the connection between the state and crime," he said.

The Democratic MP said that it would be easy to find motives for the murder of Duško Jovanović if one looked at the articles in "Dan" on the eve of Jovanović's murder.
