The Democratic People's Party (DNP) does not want to honor the obligations from the agreement they signed, but they do not mind seeking votes for the seat of President of the Capital City Assembly, the Europe Now Movement (PES) announced.
The strongest party in the ruling majority in Podgorica has made a statement regarding this morning's position by the DNP that it will support the election of the leader of the Preokret Movement, Srđan Perić, as the President of the Capital City Assembly.
"After everything said about PES and Mayor Saša Mujović, the DNP representative did not mind returning to the negotiating table, but not to discuss respecting the coalition agreement, which was expected, but to seek unconditional support for the position they had highlighted through the media. The DNP representative qualified all the discussions that were held on the topic of how the Capital City should continue to function as blackmail and ultimatums, while at the same time demanding that he ultimately receive support from all coalition constituents for the seat of the Speaker of the Assembly," they stated.
"So, the DNP does not want to honor the obligations from the agreement they signed, but they do not mind seeking votes for the seat of the President of the Capital City Assembly. The new attempt to present themselves to the public as principled will be just as successful as when they announced in principle that a wastewater treatment plant would not be built in Botun. Therefore, the announcement that they will support Srđan Perić for President of the Capital City Assembly is an introduction to cooperation with the DPS," they add.
As they pointed out, although the DNP announced after leaving power that PES and other majority constituents would cooperate with DPS, the public will witness in the coming days how principled the DNP is and who will form a new coalition in the capital.
"Everything will become clearer when citizens are convinced who will officially support the new majority candidate with signatures. The story that the DNP is creating a new majority in order to allegedly prevent the introduction of compulsory administration is meaningless, because such a scenario, which is not the first time it has been implemented in Montenegro, is actually a consequence of the crisis caused by the DNP itself. Now they will solve the crisis they themselves caused by forming a new majority in various combinations with the DPS and defending their seats in city enterprises, and they will present such a move to the public as a principled one in order to allegedly prevent the arbitrariness of Saša Mujović," they conclude in PES.
