Milošević: Surprising announcement by DNP, NSD will not support Perić for President of the Capital City Assembly

New Serbian Democracy (NSD) official and councilor in the Capital City Assembly Jelena Milošević said that the statement by the Democratic People's Party (DNP) in which they announced that they would support the leader of the Preokret movement Srđan Perić for the position of President of the City Assembly, as well as calling on the DNP to return to the negotiating table, was surprising.

Milošević emphasized that the NSD will not support Srđan Perić for the presidency of the Capital City Assembly.

"The morning statement by the Democratic People's Party, in which they said that they would support the leader of the Preokret movement, Srđan Perić, for the presidency of the Capital City Assembly, is surprising. I can say that the NSD will not support him, we are still guided by the principles and positions that this position belongs to our coalition - For the Future of Podgorica. We believed that an agreement would be reached and that the talks would bear fruit, but we see that a certain situation is not in favor of that. We did not expect this turn of events, but all of this is legitimate. I call on my colleagues from the DNP to return to the negotiating table," Milošević emphasized in the "Pressing" show on RTV Podgorica.

According to her, the citizens of Podgorica clearly stated who they want on the political scene in both 2022 and 2024.

"We are not capable of changing the electoral will of the citizens. Institutions in the Capital City are working, everything works as a well-coordinated team, and capital projects are developing. I do not see any stagnation in the administration or companies in the Capital City. NSD supports the DNP candidate for President of the Assembly, Ivana Mašković, just as we would support any of their candidates. I call on the DNP to return to negotiations and to move beyond disagreements. We cannot allow the DPS to return to power," said Milošević, according to the RTV Podgorica portal.

Milošević added that the DPS (Democratic Party of Socialists) will not formally return to power, but that it is impossible to guess what will happen in the coming period.

"It is very certain that a huge number of initiatives will be sent to the Capital City Assembly, where DPS will directly lead to being part of the majority. I think there is a possibility that DPS will be part of that "pie" - which the citizens do not want, and which they have clearly stated. I think this sequence of events is not in anyone's favor. I am sure that DPS will seek something in return from Perić. The Budva scenario would be disastrous for the Capital City. There is nothing to criticize in the work of Mayor Mujović. I think that an agreement can be reached with the DNP, despite the hasty statements. Podgorica deserves stability," Milošević concluded.
