The continued support it receives from the Italian Parliament is of utmost importance for Montenegro, especially in the final phase of the European Union (EU) accession process, said Parliament Speaker Andrija Mandić.
As announced by the Parliament, he met with a delegation from the Committee for European Affairs of the Italian Parliament.
"Welcoming the guests, Mandić emphasized that the continued support it receives from its colleagues from the Italian parliament is of utmost importance for Montenegro, especially in the final phase of the EU accession process," the statement said.
Mandić spoke about his official visit to the Italian Parliament, stating that during his term he had achieved very successful cooperation with President Lorenzo Fontana.
He stated that Montenegro and Italy are connected by strong historical, cultural and friendly ties.
The head of the delegation and chairman of the Committee for European Affairs of the Italian Parliament, Alessandro Giglio Vigna, pointed out that the results achieved today by the 28th Convocation of the Assembly are clearly visible in Italy, and certainly in the rest of Europe.
He added that he was pleased that the delegation consisted of political representatives from all parts of Italy, who, regardless of party affiliation, brought a unique message to Montenegro - that Italy believes that Montenegro is the next EU member.
