Šćekić: To preserve the majority in Podgorica, spite and political calculations must not prevail over the will of the citizens

The leader of the People's Trust Movement (PNP), Dragoslav Dado Šćekić, called on the current government in Podgorica and Montenegro to stop political moves that, as he assessed, are contrary to the people's will.

"Based on the events that are going in an irrational direction and contrary to the will of the people, or at least the will of the majority of the citizens of Podgorica and Montenegro, I have an obligation, as the leader of the Movement of People's Trust and as a participant and bearer of the electoral lists that have begun the process of change in Montenegro, who myself has felt blackmail and impudence many times, to call on all participants in these events and the current government to, while there is still time, stop the political moves that have been initiated and not allow the spite and calculations of individuals or political entities to be above the will of the citizens and to destroy what the citizens have eagerly awaited for decades," he said in a press release.

Especially because there is no single reason big enough to justify a certain electoral obligation and citizens' expectations, pointed out Šćekić.

He assessed that the resignation of the President of the Capital City Assembly, Jelena Borovinić Bojović, was a "dramatically bad move", regardless of whether the decision was made independently or in agreement with other political actors.

"This move has completely opened up space for spite, a sense of provocation, the need to enforce justice for some, and create injustice for others - all to the detriment of the citizens of Podgorica, but also of all those throughout Montenegro for whom injustice has not ended even after August 30th," said the PNP leader.

He added that responsibility for the current situation lies with almost all political entities that citizens supported in the elections.

"Ask yourself who benefits from such slander and the interests of overambitious individuals. Exactly those who were removed by the people," said Šćekić.

The PNP leader called on political representatives to sit at the negotiating table and make rational decisions instead of blaming each other to preserve the existing majority and leadership of the Capital City.

"Although I deeply disagree with the behavior of certain political entities and their representatives in leadership positions, there are those who have earned trust and full support through their work. It is high time to stop the blackmail, arrogance, conceit and calculations of those who have occupied positions they did not deserve, as well as the "beheading" of those who work in accordance with the will of the citizens and in the interest of necessary changes, reforms and improvements to the system. It is also necessary to show sincere care for all citizens, and especially for those who fought for a fairer Montenegro and equal opportunities for all," he stressed.

Šćekić said that citizens should be represented by responsible people who have results and visible work behind them, not profiteers and traders of the people's will.

"Stop and don't correct the feeling of injustice with new injustice. There will always be time for that," he concluded.
