SEP: Support for Perić with request for Podgorica recovery plan

The Party of European Progress (SEP) announced that, guided exclusively by the interests of the citizens and the stability of Podgorica, it will support Srđan Perić for election to the position of President of the Assembly of the Capital City of Podgorica in a technical mandate.

The party said they were pleased that the majority of councilors recognized and supported, as they stated, the key idea of ​​the SEP about the necessity of preserving the functionality of the city administration and parliament.

"We are particularly proud of the fact that we have seen through and completely exposed the clear plan of the current city administration to introduce compulsory administration through the back door. This scenario - conceived behind the backs of citizens in government offices - was intended to enable unlimited and uncontrolled spending of all citizens' resources through an institutional vacuum. Our primary motive was and remains to prevent such a blockade and introduce much-needed political order," the SEP statement said.

The party emphasized that they have recognized, located and publicly exposed, as they claim, numerous scandals that have been shaking the capital for months, and which, in their opinion, have been condemned by the broadest part of the public and almost all councilor clubs.

"We express our satisfaction that the administration's bad moves - from the dubiousness in the 'Putevi' company, public procurements worth millions outside legal procedures, to the chaotic functioning of 'Parking Service', open abuses in 'Zelenil', to party-based employment and turning the city administration into a training ground for satisfying party appetites - have finally received a clear epilogue and general social condemnation," the statement reads.

SEP specifically referred to, as they state, the scandal and "unprecedented cup" of the Football Club "Budućnost".

"For weeks, the SEP has insisted on holding this club, which represents the symbol of our city, not just anyone's property, accountable. We pointed out how the party majority tried to humiliate the fans, tarnish the club's reputation on its centenary, and spent 3,5 million euros of Podgorica's citizens in a very suspicious and non-transparent manner. The mayor's dissolution of the club's Board of Directors only confirmed the justification and accuracy of all our publicly expressed suspicions about the club's financial compromise and collapse," the SEP said.

Finally, they stated that their support is not unconditional, and that it will be strictly conditioned on the principled and transparent adoption of a quality action plan for the recovery and development of the Capital City.
