Dačić described the statement from official Podgorica as the height of hypocrisy

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Ivica Dačić assessed that the statement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Montenegro represents the height of hypocrisy and insults against Serbia.

In the statement, he stated that such statements are very rare in international relations and are made when relations between countries are in a serious crisis, and that even statements by US President Donald Trump against Iran are milder than the statement by the Montenegrin Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Dačić pointed out that a large number of Serbs live in Montenegro, that hundreds of thousands of people of Montenegrin origin live in Serbia, and no one has ever had a problem because of that, which Serbia is proud of.

"For decades, there has been a hostile narrative towards Serbia in Montenegro. What did Serbia do to deserve this, what did Serbia do against Montenegro? Who is in the interest of the hostility between Serbia and Montenegro? It certainly is not in the interest of the Serbian and Montenegrin people. Serbia did not recognize the secession of part of the Montenegrin state, accused Montenegro of genocide against Croats and Muslims, accused Montenegro of interfering in Serbia's internal affairs, even though Montenegrin support for every opposition in Serbia has been ongoing for decades," Dačić said.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Montenegro yesterday rejected as "unfounded and inappropriate allegations accusing Montenegro of waging any hybrid war against Serbia, or of allegedly endangering its interests."

"It is obvious that the closer Montenegro is to achieving its strategic goal - membership in the European Union - and the closer the electoral processes in our country are, the more frequent are the statements from the neighboring country that testify to the unwillingness of some political structures to accept the simple fact that they are surrounded by sovereign, internationally recognized and equal states, and not spaces that should one day be returned to any imagined political or national centers," the statement reads.
