The Ministry of Defense will continue to invest in the development of the capabilities of the Air Force of the Army of Montenegro (AVCG), modernization of equipment, improvement of infrastructure and training of personnel, said the relevant Minister Dragan Krapović, adding that investing in people will remain a priority.
As announced by the Ministry of Defense, Krapović said this at a ceremony marking the Air Force Day of the Armed Forces of Montenegro, which was held at the "Knjaz Danilo Petrović Njegoš" military airport.
The Ministry reminded that Aviation Day is celebrated in memory of June 15, 1916, when Pavle Matanović became the first graduated Montenegrin military pilot, after completing his education in France.
Krapović pointed out that Aviation Day represents an opportunity to pay tribute to the long tradition, rich heritage and exceptional contribution that airmen make to the security of the state and citizens.
"The history of the Montenegrin Air Force was written through dedicated work, professional development and constant adaptation to new challenges," said Krapović.
According to him, from the training of the first pilots, through the development of aviation units and school training centers, to the modern Air Force of the Armed Forces of Montenegro, there has always been one constant - people.
"It was precisely the people who were and remain the greatest strength of our air force," said Krapović.
He emphasized that the Ministry of Defense and the Armed Forces of Montenegro appreciate the dedication of all members of the system, from pilots and technicians to flight personnel, airspace control and logistics personnel, who contribute to the execution of every task with their knowledge, responsibility and professionalism.
Krapović particularly pointed out the importance of the Air Force's participation in search and rescue and firefighting operations.
"Your engagement during the firefighting effort demonstrated not only your expertise and training, but also your humanity, dedication, and willingness to serve the community," said Krapović.
He said that the Ministry of Defense will continue to invest in developing the capabilities of the Air Force, modernizing equipment, improving infrastructure and training personnel, and that investing in people will remain a priority.
Chief of the General Staff of the Montenegrin Air Force, Miodrag Vuksanović, said that Aviation Day is an opportunity to pay tribute to generations of pilots, engineers, technicians and all those who, with their work and dedication, built the foundations of the defense of Montenegrin skies.
"I am proud of your expertise, professionalism and dedication, but above all, your willingness to always be where it is most difficult and where help is most needed," said Vuksanović.
He emphasized that Air Force members are the country's strongest aerial response in the most challenging situations, from extinguishing fires and protecting the lives of citizens to search and rescue operations and supporting other institutions.
Speaking about the results achieved in the previous period, Vuksanović emphasized that members of the Air Force represented the Armed Forces of Montenegro and the country in the best possible way at international exercises and activities with allies and partners.
"With your work, you have shown that professionalism is not measured by the size of the system, but by the quality of the people who make it up," said Vuksanović.
Commander of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Montenegro Bojan Popadić said that members of the Air Force remain ready to professionally, responsibly and dedicatedly carry out all tasks entrusted to them, preserving the tradition and reputation of their service.
