The International Secretary of the Freedom and Justice Party (SSP), Konstantin Samofalov, assessed today that Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić is trying to prevent Montenegro from joining the European Union (EU) and that his political program is based on "blocking the European integration of the entire region."
Samofalov told the daily Danas that it suits Vučić for Serbia to be outside the EU, since in that case it would not be subject to strict controls.
"He can only continue to kidnap and rob if we remain in the gray zone between Beijing and Istanbul," the SSP member claims.
According to him, the Serbian president has repeatedly attacked neighbors from the region in recent weeks because it is a "convenient topic" for boosting the morale of more extreme voters, but also for intimidating those who are less determined.
During July, Vučić repeatedly accused Montenegro of waging a hybrid war against Serbia.
