Councilor of the Movement for Podgorica (PzPG), Dragutin Vučinić, announced that he will support the candidate for President of the Capital City Assembly, Srđan Perić (Pokret Preokret). His political entity announced that it will not raise its hand for the appointment.
In a Facebook post, Vučinić said that at one time, during his election as Vice President of the Capital City Assembly, he suffered a barrage of insults, but also that Perić repeatedly claimed that it was a political bargain.
"In addition, candidate Perić immediately called me out with a question - will I resign from that position if the famous Podgorica PUP is adopted, all in a nonchalant manner from on high, like some "par excellence" professor when he gets carried away in front of his students - amazed by his own voice and intelligence, along with the realization of how superior he actually is to the audience and to the very topic that he breaks down into simple factors... All of that, especially that expressed and maintained pretentiousness, are actually a plus reason for me to bring that same candidate Perić, and all the interested political public of Montenegro, to 'a better understanding of their rights': first, by submitting my resignation as Vice President of the Assembly of the Capital City, second, to support Mr. Perić during the upcoming election for the position he is running for, but not because of him as he is and as I described him, but just the opposite - because of who I am, and what my conscience is, and as I showed in the first case and as I will show in the second - that I "Personally, the interest of this city and this community comes first, unlike him and those like him, because I would be the number one person in the Capital City Assembly today, if I hadn't done what I did, or if I had accepted the invitation to be a candidate for president of the same," he said.
He added that, by doing so, he would give Perić a chance to be a bridge in a technical sense, so that forced administration would not be introduced, which, in his opinion, would be to the detriment of the interests of the citizens of Podgorica, or, as he states, "again, in the hands of well-known circles in the public - in order to quickly obtain some of the necessary funds to start this already obsessive-compulsive idea of construction on Velje Brdo, which this city and Montenegro do not need at all, without precisely and only that narrow-minded people who see their personal interest in it, and who have completely obscured the public, general national interest."
"I will not mention it here again - the open endangerment of the Mareza water source, and all this through established practices and legal grounds, so that it can be done in this way, in a quick manner! The PUP passed them, I paid dearly for it - first with the spit of some, and then immediately after others, and this now - to be implemented according to the same scenario against the will of the citizens, through forced administration, I cannot and will not allow. Well, on June 13, 2027, let the citizens of Podgorica decide what they will do and how they will do it! Neither I nor anyone close to me was ever in the DPS, and this story about their reanimation by this - is ridiculous. Citizens, my dears, their interest, or the interest of the community above all - ahead of personal interests, is the motive for which I entered politics, and failure to fulfill that task is for me the way out of it," he said.
He adds that he believes what the leader of the Democratic People's Party (DNP) Milan Knežević publicly stated yesterday, and it is also in line with what was offered during the negotiations from that side, that Mayor Saša Mujović (Europe Now Movement) is not questioned.
Knežević announced yesterday that his councilors will not vote for the removal of the first man of Podgorica together with the DPS.
"This is precisely because the same Mujović showed all his political flexibility and generosity and did his best to reach a political compromise - accepting the human word of honor instead of a signature and seal, which is why he is now even greater in my eyes, unlike the same forces within his movement - the movement of which I was a part, and because of which I left it at the time. Candidate Perić, and those who vote for him, cannot and will not find in me anyone else who can do anything in this city other than what will not be in the public interest - including the aforementioned failure to vote on the work report, or the subsequent dismissal of the mayor precisely because of his demonstrated flexibility - which I have already mentioned," concludes Vučinić.
