Zirojević: Everything that happens this year during the fire season is the responsibility of the Government, Bečić and Šaranović

Everything that happens during the fire season this year is the responsibility of the Government of Montenegro, Deputy Prime Minister for Security, Defense, Fight against Crime and Internal Policy Aleksa Bečić and Minister of Internal Affairs Danilo Šaranović, announced today Nikola Zirojević, a member of the European Union.

He made this statement after earlier today, the Director of the Protection and Rescue Directorate, Miodrag Bešović, warned that Montenegro is entering the summer fire season with limited aviation capacity and an increased risk of large forest fires due to above-average temperatures and long dry periods.

As Bešović stated in "Colors of Morning" on Vijesti Television, some of the existing helicopters in the system are not operational, while only a few of the three Air Tractor aircraft are currently in operation, and the rest are in the final stages of overhaul.

"After everything that happened to us last year, after the tragic loss of life of members of the Army of Montenegro, destroyed property, endangered and lost homes - the leaders of the Ministry of Internal Affairs have learned absolutely nothing," Zirojević wrote on the social network X.

He added that it is mid-June, and that extremely high temperatures have been announced for next week.

"And in regular circumstances, people barely managed to get their heads out of a broken helicopter alive. The procurement of new helicopters and planes is expected 'in the coming period'. Because we desperately need them in November. And watch out for this genius statement: 'Out of three Air Tractor type planes, only some are currently in operation, and the rest are in the final phase of overhaul'. Out of three planes, some are in operation, and the rest are in the final phase of overhaul???? Which ones are some, and which ones are the rest, out of a total of three?" Zirojević wrote.

He added - "let me say today, so that tomorrow we don't score political points while the country is burning - everything that happens this year during the fire season is the responsibility of the Government, the relevant Deputy Prime Minister Bečić and the Minister of the Interior Šaranović."
