Vučinić: I believe that even without my contribution, Perić will be elected President of the Capital City Assembly

Councilor of the Movement for Podgorica (PzPG), Dragutin Vučinić, announced today that he believes that even without his contribution, Srđan Perić will be elected President of the Capital City Assembly.

"I am sorry that I will not be here tomorrow - to vote against the introduction of compulsory administration. I believe that even without my contribution, Mr. Srđan Perić will be elected President of the Assembly and that we, the councilors, will then be able to work, in the best interest of the Capital City. However, life is above politics. Greetings from Minsk, Belarus...", Vučinić wrote on the social network Facebook.

Vučinić announced yesterday that he would support the candidate for President of the Capital City Assembly, Srđan Perić (Pokret Preokret). His political entity announced that it would not raise its hand for the appointment.

Yesterday, in a Facebook post, Vučinić said that at one time, during his election as Vice President of the Capital City Assembly, he suffered a barrage of insults, but also that Perić repeatedly claimed that it was a political bargain.

Leader and councilor of the Preokret Movement, Srđan Perić, has accepted the candidacy for President of the Capital City Assembly.

This was announced today on the website of the Podgorica parliament, in the materials for tomorrow's session.

"At the proposal of the Preokret Movement, in accordance with the publicly presented model for preserving the functionality of Podgorica and preventing the introduction of compulsory administration, and based on the collected signatures of councilors for this proposal, the conditions have been met to elect Srđan Perić, who was elected as a councilor to the Capital City Assembly from the list 'Preokret - This Can't Go On Any More - Srđan Perić', as the President of the Capital City Assembly, in accordance with the law," the proposal for the election of the President of the Assembly states.

The proposal was signed by 20 councilors, including members of the Preokret Movement, the European Union (EU), and the Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS).

"The provision of Article 65 of the Statute of the Main Guard - Podgorica stipulates that the President of the Assembly is elected by the Assembly, from among the councilors, upon the proposal of one third of the councilors, by a majority vote of the total number of councilors (in the current assembly, which has 59 councilors, one third is 20)," the document states.

After the former President of the Capital City Assembly, Jelena Borovinić Bojović, resigned, Perić announced his candidacy.

The Preokret Movement, the Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS), the European Alliance (ES), and the Party of European Progress (SEP) announced their support for this proposal.
