DPS: The goal of the Platform for Overcoming the Parliamentary Crisis is to preserve institutional stability

The goal of the Platform for Overcoming the Parliamentary Crisis in a Key Phase of European Integration is to preserve institutional stability, strengthen trust in the electoral process, and ensure political consensus on key reforms, opposition representatives said at a meeting with ambassadors of the European Union (EU) and several member states.

As announced by the Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS), the presidents of that party, the Social Democrats (SD) and the Croatian Civic Initiative (HGI), Danijel Živković, Damir Šehović and Adrijan Vuksanović, spoke today with the ambassadors of Italy, the United Kingdom, France and the EU, Andrea Marcello, Don McCann, Anne Marie Maske and Johann Sattler, as well as the Deputy Ambassador of Germany, Ralf Roesch.

DPS announced that the meeting was predominantly dedicated to the Platform for Overcoming the Parliamentary Crisis in the Key Phase of Montenegro's European Integration.

"Representatives of the opposition emphasized that it primarily aims to preserve institutional stability, strengthen trust in the electoral process, and secure political consensus on key reforms," ​​the statement said.

As it is added, opposition representatives informed the ambassadors about the ongoing negotiations, emphasizing that the key positions of the platform are predominantly along the lines of the demands and recommendations that the EU previously issued to the Montenegrin authorities during the negotiation process.

"They expressed hope that the ruling political actors will understand the importance of the current moment for Montenegro's European integration and the messages that are arriving from important international addresses in this context these days," the statement said.

It is added that the ambassadors welcomed the continuation of dialogue among political actors and encouraged finding solutions that contribute to institutional stability, citizen trust, and the continuation of European reforms in Montenegro.

"The ambassadors congratulated the successful implementation of the EU-Western Balkans Summit and stressed that it is necessary for all actors on the political scene to demonstrate constructiveness, at a time when it is necessary to show unity regarding the country's main foreign policy goal - EU membership," the statement said.
