The New Serbian Democracy (NSD) councilor club will not attend today's session of the local parliament, during which a decision will be made on the candidacy of Preokret councilor Srđan Perić for President of the Capital City Assembly.
This was announced by the head of the NSD in the city parliament, Mitar Šušić.
"The continuity of political experiments that we have always opposed, and to which we unfortunately occasionally return as a society, slows down all progressive processes in Montenegro. But - and this is democracy, so respecting everyone's right to use the sovereignty, which was transferred to them by the citizens, as they see fit, we will neither give lessons nor put labels on anyone, although we sincerely believe that the decision to form the announced majority for the election of the President of the Parliament in the person of colleague Perić is fundamentally wrong and politically harmful to all participants in that endeavor, as well as to the candidate himself, who, after a decade of persistence on the famous 'neither the government nor the opposition' third path, is putting himself at risk of being politically spent as a DPS candidate for short-term use," Šušić told "Vijesti".
Šušić called on other political actors "with whom they built citizens' hope for a better future for Podgorica and Montenegro, to show maturity and responsibility."
"... Overcome mutual disagreements and - while respecting political differences and personal animosities - abandon the spontaneous and ultimatum approach, which favors common political enemies, and in the spirit of the negotiations that have begun, reach a solution within the majority that, based on the will of the citizens, assumed responsibility for exercising power in the Capital after the last elections," he said.
