Montenegro remains a reliable partner and a strong supporter of European policy in the Western Balkans, said Minister of Foreign Affairs Ervin Ibrahimović.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that, on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the restoration of Montenegro's independence and in anticipation of Statehood Day, the Montenegrin Embassy in France organized a ceremonial reception in Paris.
The reception, as stated, brought together high-ranking officials of French institutions, representatives of the diplomatic corps, distinguished guests from political, cultural and public life, as well as the Montenegrin diaspora.
In addition to Ibrahimović, the guests were addressed by the Ambassador of Montenegro to France Dubravka Lalović, Minister for Europe at the Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs of France Benjamin Haddad, as well as the Mayor of the 16th arrondissement of Paris, Jérémy Redler.
It is stated that in their addresses they emphasized the importance of friendly relations between Montenegro and France, along with congratulations on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the restoration of independence and Statehood Day.
Ibrahimović, as announced by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, pointed out the importance of celebrating two major dates - Statehood Day and the 20th anniversary of the restoration of independence, which best symbolize the long tradition of Montenegrin statehood, freedom and European affiliation.
"While we proudly celebrate our past, our eyes remain firmly fixed on the European future - Montenegro as a responsible member of the European Union (EU) and NATO, bringing stability, cooperation and prosperity to the entire Western Balkans," said Ibrahimović.
He pointed to strong citizen support and a clear political consensus on the country's European path.
Ibrahimović highlighted France as a strategic partner and proven friend, assessing that bilateral relations are stronger than ever before.
He particularly pointed out the significance of the recent visit of French President Emmanuel Macron to Montenegro, which, as he stated, opened a new chapter in the relations between the two countries and paved the way towards comprehensive connectivity and a stronger partnership at all levels.
Ibrahimović emphasized that Montenegro proudly shares the heritage of European values, demonstrating full compliance with the EU's common foreign and security policy, with the desire to be a positive example and a strong pillar in the region.
He said that he is convinced that Montenegro will become even more visible in France in the coming years, especially through strengthening cultural ties, a greater number of French visitors discovering Montenegrin beauties, as well as through active cooperation within the International Organization of La Francophonie.
Ibrahimović thanked the Montenegrin diaspora for preserving their roots and the contribution they make to the development and reputation of Montenegro in the world.
"Your dedication to your homeland and the responsibility you show to the country that received you serve as a source of pride for all of us. Your Montenegro will always think of you," Ibrahimović said.
