France will continue to monitor and support Montenegro on its path towards membership in the European Union, said the country's President Emmanuel Macron.
He congratulated Montenegrin President Jakov Milatović on July 13th - Montenegro's Statehood Day.
Milatović's office announced that Macron recalled last month's visit to Montenegro, the first visit by a French president to our country, held in the year in which Montenegro marks two decades since the restoration of independence.
"My visit to Montenegro confirmed the vitality of our bilateral relations and the shared ambition for a partnership between our two countries," Macron said.
He assessed that relations between Montenegro and France are developing today on solid and lasting foundations, through cooperation in areas of crucial importance, including health, defense, cybersecurity, infrastructure, energy and green transition.
The French President reiterated, as announced, his full support for Montenegro's European integration, which he also expressed in Tivat, at the EU-Western Balkans Summit, which he emphasized was successfully organized by Milatović.
"Exceptional reform efforts have enabled decisive progress and brought Montenegro to the final stage of its accession process," Macron said.
He emphasized that France will continue to monitor and support Montenegro on its path towards membership in the European Union.
"Be assured that France stands firmly with Montenegro," concluded President Macron, expressing his high regard for President Milatović.
