Leković: The president of the Bar 5 Sutorman Local Community and a member of the DPS are outraged and insulted by the arrest of Vulević

Democratic Montenegro MP Momčilo Leković announced today that the president of the Local Community (MZ) Bar 5 Sutorman Omer Velović, who is also a member of the Municipal Board of the Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS) in Bar, is outraged and insulted by the arrest of Vuk Vulević.

"Look at how the president of a local community in Bar insults MPs, but even more devastatingly, the family members of the victim of the mafia octopus. Instead of welcoming the arrest of Vuk Vulević and supporting the fight against organized crime, the president of the Bar 5 Sutorman Local Community, Omer Velović, who is also a member of the DPS Municipal Board in Bar, decides to protest and insult because another member of the criminal octopus has been arrested," Leković pointed out in a statement.

He added that "such behavior is not worthy of the position he holds nor the trust of the citizens he is supposed to represent, devoid of any political activity."

"I am sure that this behavior is not supported by the majority of citizens of this local community. Let this be a warning to all citizens of Bar to carefully choose their representatives in 2027. Those who represent citizens must be on the side of law, justice and the fight against crime, and not protest when members of the underworld are arrested," said Leković.

Fugitive Beranac Vuk Vulević was arrested on April 11 in Belgrade, as officially confirmed to "Vijesti" by the Director of the Police Administration (UP) Lazar Šćepanović.

Šćepanović then announced that Vulević had been deprived of his liberty based on an arrest warrant issued for him by Montenegro.

Montenegrin police are searching for Vulević on suspicion that he is part of the organized crime group of Vaso Ulic and Radoje Zvicer.

In police documents, Vulević is identified as the leader of the Berane organized crime group, which closely cooperates with the Kavača clan.

An international Interpol red notice was issued for him in September 2024 after the Special State Prosecutor's Office (SDT) opened an investigation into Operation "General" in July of that year.

The SDT accused Vulević of being part of an international network, led by Radoje Zvicer and Vaso Ulic, that attempted to smuggle around 2,5 tons of cocaine from South America to Europe and Australia.

Through communication analysis on the Sky application, SDT connects Beranca with tracking the routes of these shipments of valuable drug cargoes from Latin America to Europe and Australia.

During the two years since the opening of the investigation in Operation "General", the Montenegrin police have conducted numerous searches of locations in northern Montenegro in search of Vulević, but these searches have not yielded any results in locating him.

On July 13, the pre-trial judge of the Higher Court in Belgrade ordered extradition detention for Vulević.
