Koprivica: The Metropolis cannot be measured by the yardstick of passing personalities

The Metropolitanate of Montenegro and the Littoral of the Serbian Orthodox Church cannot be measured by the yardstick of transient personalities, who have "ascribed false 'guilts' to its bishops to this day," said Deputy Prime Minister for the Political System, Judiciary and Anti-Corruption Momo Koprivica.

"The Metropolis is one of the pillars of Montenegro, Serbism and Orthodoxy, the foundation of spiritual heritage and national unity. The guardian and transmitter of the spiritual, cultural and state-building heritage of Vojislavljević, Nemanjić, Balšić, Crnojević and Petrović. The Metropolitans of Cetinje, he said, have suffered and been persecuted for centuries.

In the last century, they have experienced Nazi concentration camps, extrajudicial executions, show trials and imprisonment, demonstrations to defend the Njegoš Chapel, unlawful arrests by the previous regime. Who has the right to point a finger at the witnesses of suffering? Therefore, the Metropolis cannot be measured by the yardstick of transient personalities, who have attributed false 'guilts' to its bishops to this day. It belongs to the faithful people and its age-old vow to preserve the faith of Christ, the holy places, freedom and spiritual unity through generations," he added.

Koprivica said that politics are fleeting, governments too, and that daily divisions come and go, "no matter who and for what dishonorable purpose induced them."

"Eternal are the faith, sacred places, and spiritual heritage that we received from our ancestors and which we are obliged to preserve and pass on to those who come after us," said the Deputy Prime Minister.
