Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić has stated that the country, despite pressure from Germany and other countries, will not recognize Kosovo's independence, assessing that increasing pressure is being exerted on Belgrade to change its position on the issue.
When asked to comment on the fact that more and more headlines in the Montenegrin media are saying that there are more and more officials who can "show their teeth" to Serbia, Vučić said that he thought they wanted to extend a hand, not show their teeth, Tanjug reports.
"It's not very polite to go and show your teeth to people. So I would prefer that they were interested in helping the brotherly Serbian people. I would prefer that they didn't want to participate in every chase against Serbs," Vučić said after touring the construction site as part of the Expo project.
He pointed out that the two countries have different positions.
"On one side, you have Montenegro, which has recognized the so-called Kosovo, and Serbia, which is not and will not. On the one hand, you have Montenegro, which is a member of NATO, and on the other hand, you have Serbia, which is not and will not be. The third thing is, you have Montenegro, which has imposed all sanctions on the Russian Federation without question, and Serbia, which has not, and at least for now, and as long as it has endured so far, has shown that it will not. When you take these facts into account, everything else is in between: political balancing, often manipulation. And I don't want to say anything bad about them, let them do their job," Vučić said.
As he said, he knows "they find it difficult" that Serbia lagged 50 percent behind Montenegro in terms of average salaries, and that today Serbia is ahead.
"But we worked hard, I wish the same for them, and we will look forward to every success in the future, theirs," Vučić said.
